If you're imagination is strong enough, it shouldn't matter that the movies did it differently - you always have the book. If you're asking as a reader: Don't think of it as being ruined. I don't know why they made the changes they did, but obviously they were appropriate, as JKR had to have approved them. But for whatever reason, they decided having him turn to ash would be better. My favorite part of that battle is Voldemort's lifeless body just being thrown into the pile along with everyone else. I think the page-to-screen argument still stands for this one (it's hard to highlight certain things in film, especially since they never established the whole disarming rule in the movies to begin with), but they could have modified it in such a way that made it work.Īnd don't even get me started on the whole Voldemort turning to ashes thing. No fight would have been a huge missed opportunity for a cool, fulfilling confrontation.īut the fact still remains that they left out that awesome speech.

But some things don't translate from page to screen. Yes, it worked in the book and was incredible. Imagine the disappointment amongst the masses if the entire series seemed to be leading to this fight between the good guy and the bad guy, and all they got was Harry tearing Voldemort a new asshole. But I still think there needed to be a one-on-one fight between Harry and Voldemort.

I 100% agree about the lack of Harry's speech.
